Gifted & Talented
Our mission statement is the guiding principle behind the provision for Gifted and Talented pupils so that we provide “the maximum opportunity to realise each person's potential”.
Throughout the school class work and homework is differentiated. Provision is made in class for the extension of the most able pupils in different curriculum areas. Staff employ a variety of means to identify the Gifted and Talented children within each year group. These include both formal and informal assessments.
A programme of stimulating and challenging activities is provided by the coordinator to develop skills, talents and academic achievement. The focus in such activities is always on enrichment rather than extension. The emphasis is on the development of broad based skills that will serve to enhance pupils' experience of education now and in the future.
We celebrate the abilities of our most talented pupils and acknowledge their outstanding achievements in the fields of art, music, drama and sport. Wherever possible we provide our pupils with opportunities to perform at the highest level in venues such as The Royal Albert Hall, The Orange Tree Theatre and St Mary's College.
