Music at St James's
St James’s School has its own dedicated Music Director who is responsible for all aspects of music within the school. These include;
Infant Choir for Years 1 & 2
Junior Choir for Years 3 & 4
Senior Choir for Years 5 & 6
Nota Bene (auditioned choir)
Orchestra (invitation only)
Ukulele Club (free after school activity)
Recorder Corps (free after school activity)
In Year 3, all children have the opportunity to learn a string instrument which is taught in their weekly music lessons. There is a small fee attached to this activity.
In Years 5 & 6, all children get the chance to learn to play both the recorder and the ukulele.
Individual or shared private lessons are given by a team of peripatetic staff who work closely with the Music Director.
Other fee paying activities are:
Jammin’ Together rock and pop music weekly sessions are run by a talented and experienced musician both at lunchtime and after school.
M:Tech takes place over several lunchtimes in the ICT room and is run by an expert music technology company.
