How do I apply for the next academic year (September 2026)?

When you can apply:

  • You can start submitting in-year applications no sooner than one term before the desired start date (based on a six-term school calendar).

  • No in-year applications for the current academic year will be accepted after 30 June (for that year).

  • That means for a September 2026 start, you’d generally wait until Summer 2026 (around June) to apply through the in-year process — since applications are for the same academic year entry.

Key practical points

  • Richmond Local Authority usually only processes September starts after mid-July if you apply too early. This is similar to other London boroughs’ practice.

  • Your child needs to be living at the address in the borough before you can apply (exceptions apply for HM Forces & Crown Servants).
