Wraparound Care Provision Academic Year 2026-2027

Is my STJ Extra Wraparound request for child care guaranteed?  

No! 

If you are an existing user and wish to request additional sessions for your child, or you are a new joiner to St James's, STJ Extra wraparound care is not guaranteed. 

It is dependent on whether there are places available at the session you have requested and where your position is on the waitlist.

Is STJ Extra Wraparound an extension of the school day?    

No! 

It is a bespoke service that is provided by a separate team within a separate and dedicated building on the school site (The Pilgrim Hall). 

It is designed to provide a relaxing and calm environment, to help children transition from the their school day.  The number of places are limited based on the environment and providing a high quality service, while observing strict staff to children ratio.

How many STJ Extra Wraparound sessions are available?

Please note that availability is dependent upon existing users cancelling their wraparound sessions. The waitlist is open to the entire school and not just new admissions.

For the sake of transparency, at the start of each Academic year (or throughout the academic year), all 500 sessions are not available for parents to book.  Only those sessions that existing users have relinquished will be available and parents will be offered according to their position on the waitlist.

Who is eligible for wraparound care?

• Current St James's pupils in Reception through to Year 6. 

• (StJ Extra wrap aournd care will not be available for St James's nursery children).

What happens if I am unable to secure a place and I was planning on using St James's for childcare?

St James's is not responsible for sourcing, providing or fulfilling a parent's childcare arrangements.

• St James's tries to offer our families with as much flexibility as possible, by providing 500 weekly wraparound sessions and over 1000 weekly extra-curricular club places. 
• It is important for all parents, whether they are joining the school as new admissions, or existing members of our community, to be aware that we can not guarantee before or after school child care. 

My child will join Reception in September 2026, can I go on a waitlist now?

No!

• For Reception 2026 parents who have been offered and accepted a place, details on how to join the StJ Extra wraparound care waitlist will be provided during our Parent Information Evening (to be scheduled in June 2026). Parents will be notified of the date and time when the waitlist will open for children to join.
• Please note that we are unable to provide you access to the waitlist in advance of the open date.

Can you guarantee wraparound for my Reception in September 2026, child?

No!

• At this stage, we cannot guarantee the availability of wraparound care for the 2026–2027 academic year.
• Parents will be informed if we are able to meet all, some, or none of the wraparound care requests in late June/early July.
• Reception 2026 parents should consider a variety of childcare options in case they are unable to secure St James's wraparound provision.

St James's is not responsible for sourcing, providing or fulfilling a parent's childcare arrangements.

How do I add my child to the Academic Year 2025-2026 wraparound care waitlist?

This is now closed and we are not accepting any requests for wraparound for the remainder of this academic year.
